Review of On the Record (The Record Series, Book 2), by KA Linde

IMG_9706.PNG
Synopsis:
For political reporter Liz Dougherty, election day—a day of looking toward the future and saying goodbye to the past—seems like a fitting time to start a new relationship. But feelings for her former flame still linger…
The sexy second book in bestselling author K.A. Linde’s Record series decides whether it’s better to pick up the pieces and move on…or to pick up right where you left off.

BOOK NERDS SERIOUSLY RECOMMENDS!
5 stars!!! We LOVED Off The Record when it came out, and this book has followed it up with perfection. Your heart will tug, your tears will spill, your throat will close up, and you will feel every bit of torment that these characters feel. The good side? You’ll also feel the passion they feel. Congressman Brady Maxwell is a young, yet seasoned politician. He keeps his campaign mask firmly in place at all times. But she has always been able to see through that mask.
She may have walked away from him in the last book…. But do either one of them stand a chance in being able to move on with their lives? You’ll have to read to find out!

Get it now on Amazon!

The 3rd book in the series titled For the Record is scheduled to be released 11/18/2014 – and we can’t wait!

If you have yet to read the first book, and you find yourself interested (which you should be) – here’s the synopsis:
Off The Record synopsis:
Liz Dougherty has no idea a single question is about to change her life.
Her first big reporting assignment for her North Carolina college newspaper has her covering a state senator’s impromptu press conference. Brady Maxwell may have everything it takes to be a politician—a winning pedigree, devastating good looks, a body made to wear suits—but his politics rub Liz the wrong way. When Liz’s hard-hitting question catches the upstart senator off-guard, it impresses Hayden Lane, Liz’s editor who feels she’s headed for a promising career as a reporter.
But Liz is also headed into a secret romance with Brady that could destroy both their ambitions. Though he’s a bachelor, potential voters might frown on Brady cozying up to a reporter. And Liz isn’t sure sneaking around is enough for her—especially when things between her and Hayden might be less platonic than she thought.
Sleek, sexy, and smart, Off the Record ventures into a high-stakes campaign and an even higher-stakes affair to answer the question: When politics and love collide, can there ever be a winner?

Review of Bender (The Core Four Book 1), by Stacy Borel

IMG_9705.PNG
This is the first installment of The Core Four series. Each of the Brooks brothers will have their own story. Bender can be read as a stand alone.

Synopsis:
All Keegan wanted was a roommate who was quiet, minded their own business, and paid for part of the rent. Instead, she got Camden Brooks.
Camden, with his sinful body, sharp tongue, and the inability to stay out of Keegan’s personal space, couldn’t seem to curb his interest in the new girl who wouldn’t put up with his domineering ways.
Feelings were running rampant, sexual tension was thick, and both were struggling to let go of control.
To some people, getting a roommate simply meant living with another person. But to both Camden and Keegan it was a curveball that neither was prepared to swing at.

BOOK NERDS HIGHLY RECOMMENDS!
We give Bender 2 thumps up! Anybody else out there a sucker for those jerks who wind up being so compassionate in the end? This is a book for everyone to enjoy. Camden Brooks is SMOKIN!!! He’s the epitome of the man you’d love to back hand and he’s everything you could want, all wrapped up in one!

Book Nerds Review of The Husband Hazard, by Vivien Paige.

Who doesn’t love bringing a bad boy to his knees? Who doesn’t love a little bit of animosity and bickering to elevate the sexual tension? Characters that purposely add fuel to the fire… Misunderstandings…. Misjudgments… Misguided good intentions. What else could you ask for in a romance?!
What started out with her being only a prop in his master plan for revenge turns into hearts colliding, sparks flying, and intense passion. Her intentions were to marry his brother. He knows it, she knows it. Yet they are pulled to each other from their very first meeting, brother be damned! This impenetrable bad boy is cracked wide open. Hearts are left bleeding out on the floor…
Book Nerds absolutely, positively recommends this book! It’s a great, quick read full to the brim with emotion for all of you hopeless romantics out there. It will tug at your heart strings the way only a great romance can. Highly suggesting you check this out!

Excerpt for Very Wicked Things
Book #2 of the Briarcrest Academy Series
by Ilsa Madden-Mills

I got out of the shower and dressed hurriedly, anxious to get back to Cuba.
The door opened, and like he did it every single day, he stepped inside the steamy bathroom.
“Think I need a shower, too,” he said, his fingers easing off his football practice shirt.
What? Now?
Trying to play it cool and failing miserably, I moved my eyes off his naked chest and checked out his track pants and the obvious bulge he sported.
Oh. Did his lower body match the rest of him? Was it all sinewy muscle and big?
Just, yeah. That thought got stuck in my head and went round and round.
“You staying?” he asked, a grin working his face. Pleased at my open admiration, probably.
“No,” I said, but made no move to go. ‘Cause I had no shame when it came to catching a glimpse of his muscular body.
“Good,” he said, his smile broadening.
He pivoted to turn on the shower, and my eyes betrayed me again, admiring the muscles in his back, checking out how they twitched and rippled when he moved. Football and rowing had been good to him. My fingers itched to know how they’d feel underneath my hands. Which was stupid because we had nothing in common. Not a rich Highland Park boy and a poor girl from Ratcliffe.
And most importantly, he was a player, not to be trusted.
He hooked his thumbs into his pants, paused a moment—maybe waiting to see if I’d run from the room?—but when I didn’t budge, he slid them and his underwear off. My mouth opened. Cuba Hudson, the most popular guy at Briarcrest was standing right in front of me, naked and beautiful. And like the cocky bastard he was, he posed for me, his big-ass biceps and chiseled abs making me vibrate all over. Need for him slammed into me.
Did I say he was hot?
Well, I was wrong.
He was off-the-charts, no-holds-barred, freaking going make-me-lose-my-mind-right-there delicious. The ultimate man-candy, the kind I knew to stay away from, yet here I was, ogling him.
“Still leaving?” he asked huskily.
“Any minute,” I said in a weak voice, backing up to the wall and propping myself up. “Just chillin’. Shower wore me out. I might need to hold this wall up for a sec.”
“I want you to stay,” he said, eyes at half-mast, glowing with heat.
“Why?” I said, aching to touch him. But that was crazy. I was a virgin, and I didn’t know jack about touching a guy’s you-know-what.
“Look at me, Dovey.”
I tore my eyes from his manhood, blushing.
His eyes burned. “There’s a sense of urgency in my head. Like our time is limited.”
I nodded. Yeah, same here.
“And, I’ll be honest, I don’t want to rush you, but I’m dying to sink into you. I want to set you on fire with need for me.” He ghosted his hands over the steel rod between his legs. Once, twice, and—holy shizzle, he didn’t stop.
My chest rose faster and faster, and I tried to chill-out, but I couldn’t.
He lowered his voice. “Kiss me again, Dovey.”
Oh. “That’s a terrible idea, Cuba. Cause you’re naked, and I’m turned on because you’re naked. And you’re touching yourself. And you’re naked.” I sucked in a sharp breath. “Not a good combo. Odds are we’ll end up in that shower together or back in your bed doing the double-backed monster.”
“Then join me in the shower. I’ll be good. For you.” He arched his back, his hands still doing that back and forth that was driving me insane.
Liar, liar, pants on fire, I thought. No way he would he be good.
Because he was the Heartbreaker of Briarcrest Academy.
And one wicked boy.

Book Nerds review of The Mortal Instruments: City of Heavenly Fire, by Cassandra Clare

Hey all my fellow Book Nerds out there! I recently finished City of Heavenly Fire, by Cassandra Clare.
Cassandra Clare is one of the greatest storytellers I have ever had the privilege of reading!! In The Mortal Instruments series, she created this amazing, intriguing world – coinciding simultaneously with our regular, everyday world. She has made us fall helplessly in love with Jace Herondale, our perfect male specimen. Jace is one of the best characters I’ve ever been introduced to. He’s witty, sarcastic, conceited, charming — everything, all wrapped up into one character. Clary Fray is perhaps one of the boldest female characters I’ve read in a long time. Strong, confident, intelligent, caring – Clary is that female character that we all can relate to in one way or another. Together, these two characters have walked us through an amazing tale of Nephilim, Angels, Demons, Vampires, Faeries, and Warlocks – heroes, heroines, villains, fallen heroes, rising villans, and so much more. In these books, you witness different varieties of beings set aside their differences and prejudices and work together for a common cause.
Get yourself a copy of The Mortal Instruments: City of Heavenly Fire, and follow Clary and Jace one last time as they fight the largest, most important, and most brutal war of their lifetime against Clary’s own brother: Sebastian Morgenstern. Can Clary, Jace, Alec, Isabelle, Simon, and the rest of the crew pull together again to defeat Sebastian and his army of Endarkened Nephilim warriors? Or has Sebastian finally found the one way to defeat the Nephilim.
I had such a good time reading this last installment of The Mortal Instruments. It absolutely thrilled me how Cassandra Clare has expertly linked The Infernal Devices to The Mortal Instruments, while setting the stage for The Dark Artifices, coming Fall 2015. The character development throughout TID and TMI has been exceptional. I don’t doubt for a second that The Dark Artifices will be equally as amazing.
Cassandra Clare is, quite simply, one of the best authors of her time, to have created the world that she did, that keeps all of us craving more, and more, and more.
Book Nerds HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommends that you read both existing series: The Mortal Instruments — and — The Infernal Devices, if you haven’t already.
We are already dying to start The Dark Artifices.
Thank you, Cassandra Clare, for sharing your brilliance with the world.

Book Nerds review of Blue Notes, by Carrie Lofty

Blue Notes, by award winning author Carrie Lofty. A wonderful love story! Our main character is an unbelievably talented pianist. She was born Rosie Nyman, and came from a terrible childhood, with horrifying parents. As a child, she was subjected to so much negativity and darkness. She eventually was placed into the foster system, but managed to be one of the very few to luck out with amazing foster parents, who she later feels more connected to than she ever did her biological parents. In an effort to leave the past behind, she went so far as to change her name to Keeley. Despite her terrifying past, Keeley ends up moving forward with life (or trying to) and attends college at Tulane, where she excels as a pianist, pouring her heart and soul into her music. After eavesdropping on her practicing one day, Keeley meets the beautiful, brooding Jude, who happens to be New Orleans royalty. However, Keeley has no idea who he is, and brushes him off as she (quite literally) sprints away from him. Not long after, they meet again at a local club, where Jude dares Keeley to push her boundaries and her comfort level. Keeley rises to the challenge, making it a night she will never forget. Eventually Keeley finds out who Jude is, billionaire playboy whose parents died tragically, leaving him to run a massive corporation at such a young age. Jude consistently pushes Keeley and opens her up in ways she has never experienced before. All the while, Keeley struggles to hide her jaded past from Jude. When Keeley’s past catches up with her and she’s exposed as her original self, Rosie Nyman, will what these two lovers share be able to withstand the frenzy that follows?
