Black Heart, A Cursed Hearts Novel, by R.L. Mathewson

Black Heart, A Cursed Hearts Novel, by R.L. Mathewson.Summary:

There was something seriously wrong with Marty. That was the only explanation that she could come up with. Why else would she feel this way for the biggest SOB in town? Granted, he was also the hottest man in town, but he was also arrogant, callous, and determined to drive her away even as he drove her crazy with his touch. She should just walk away from him and probably would if it wasn’t for this connection that she’d always had with him that kept making her want more with the one man that couldn’t give her anything more than heartache.

He should have left and never looked back when he’d decided to finally do the right thing and push Marty out of his life, but instead he stuck around to torture himself by staying close to the one woman that he could never allow himself to have. She deserved better than him, better than the tortured existence that he led and better than the horrifying future that waited for him.
Authors note: This book is different from my other series. It deals with ghosts and soul mates. You may not enjoy this book if you don’t enjoy those subjects. Thank you, R.L.

Book Nerds review of Blue Notes, by Carrie Lofty

Blue Notes, by award winning author Carrie Lofty. A wonderful love story! Our main character is an unbelievably talented pianist. She was born Rosie Nyman, and came from a terrible childhood, with horrifying parents. As a child, she was subjected to so much negativity and darkness. She eventually was placed into the foster system, but managed to be one of the very few to luck out with amazing foster parents, who she later feels more connected to than she ever did her biological parents. In an effort to leave the past behind, she went so far as to change her name to Keeley. Despite her terrifying past, Keeley ends up moving forward with life (or trying to) and attends college at Tulane, where she excels as a pianist, pouring her heart and soul into her music. After eavesdropping on her practicing one day, Keeley meets the beautiful, brooding Jude, who happens to be New Orleans royalty. However, Keeley has no idea who he is, and brushes him off as she (quite literally) sprints away from him. Not long after, they meet again at a local club, where Jude dares Keeley to push her boundaries and her comfort level. Keeley rises to the challenge, making it a night she will never forget. Eventually Keeley finds out who Jude is, billionaire playboy whose parents died tragically, leaving him to run a massive corporation at such a young age. Jude consistently pushes Keeley and opens her up in ways she has never experienced before. All the while, Keeley struggles to hide her jaded past from Jude. When Keeley’s past catches up with her and she’s exposed as her original self, Rosie Nyman, will what these two lovers share be able to withstand the frenzy that follows?

“Canary, you have always been my forever since I saw you at that party. I’ve learned to be patient and wait for our time to come. I knew that once our time came it would be an epic romance of grand proportions. I believed that when I became the guy you deserved that you would be mine. I’ve worked so hard to become that guy and I promise you today that I may have my faults but I will always put you first. I vow that I will protect you, if you fall I will pick you up; I will be here by your side through good times and bad.
“I don’t know what I ever did in my life to deserve you but I won’t do anything to jeopardize us. I promise all of this and more until the day I die.”

When C.L. King isn’t hard at work writing you can usually catch her reading, baking cookies, dancing to music, or just simply being crazy. She has a huge passion for baseball and the theatre. But her true nerd side comes out when she is doing math for fun. She has an old soul which is evident with her love of the 70s show Emergency. If you want to get on her good side bring her an Ocean Water from Sonic. Even though she tries to focus on one project at a time she always seems to be working on multiple projects at once, it’s a good thing that she is highly organized. Just don’t take her to a book store, you do that and you are likely able to spend hours browsing.
She loves to get to know people so connect with her and get the latest news and visit her using the following links:

Book Nerds review of Take Me For Granted, by KA Linde

Take Me For Granted, by KA Linde. GREAT READ! If you love seeing a bad boy rock star womanizer fall hard for a nice, classy, good girl – then this is the book for you! Bad boy Grant is a local rock star, who is headed for the big time with his band, who go by the name ContraBand. Grant is accustomed to having any female he’d like, partying hard, and having absolutely no attachments. He doesn’t do feelings. But when he first meets Aribel, he’s momentarily caught off guard by her immediate rejection. This doesn’t deter him, however. What started as a simple conquest developed into a burning need. Aribel flips Grants world upside down. Likewise, Grant opens Aribel’s eyes up to a world that had previously been passing her by. The two of them are so unbelievably different, and the proof of that is in their clashing opinions and witty arguments. Can they each give a little of themselves to each other, in a way that neither of them have ever done before? You’ll have to read the book to find out. This was such a fun read. Definitely recommend!
